Zaheer Jappa the Additional Deputy Commissioner General said that two main markets were a serious threat for a spread COVID-19 in Rawalpindi. After imposing lockdown in 22 localities of Rawalpindi, the number of cases has decreased and it is being believed that by imposing lockdown in these other sealed areas, the spread of coronavirus will stop as the administration has found many other hotspots from where coronavirus patients were being reported.

It was fixed mandatory to wear face masks and traders had to ensure the availability of sanitizers in their shops and to not allow more than two persons to enter inside.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General Zaheer Jappa said, “Despite clear directions from the district administration, SOPs are not being followed in the markets and bazaars. People failed to maintain social distancing while traders too did not make any effort to implement the SOPs.”

“The government had been creating awareness among the people to adopt safety measures in public places and also held dozens of meetings with traders to urge them to follow the SOPs.” said the additional deputy commissioner.
