WhatsApp will let you move chats from Android to iPhones soon

Users may now utilize Apple’s Move to iOS app to export their WhatsApp conversation chat history, photographs, videos, and voice chats from their Android to iPhone. Previously, users could only transfer chats from their iPhone to their Android device. The option to transfer WhatsApp data from Android to iPhone is currently in development and will be available to all users in roughly a week.

“We’re bringing end-to-end encryption to WhatsApp by allowing you to safely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice chats between Android and iPhone,” said Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a statement. “This is a feature that is frequently requested. Last year, we introduced the option to transition from iPhone to Android, and now we’re extending that to Android to iPhone.”

The transfer technique only worked on fresh or factory reset iPhones, according to WhatsApp. You must also have Android 5 or above on your Android device and iOS 15.5 on your iPhone.

To begin, launch the Move to iOS app on your Android phone and follow the on-screen instructions. A code will appear on your iPhone if you follow the steps. Your Android phone will ask you to enter the code. Then press “Continue” and follow the on-screen instructions. After that, on the “Transfer Data” screen, choose “WhatsApp.” Then, on your Android phone, tap “Start” to begin the procedure.

After that, you’ll have to wait for WhatsApp to process your information for export. You will be signed out of your Android phone after the data has been prepared.

To return to the Move to iOS app, simply tap “Next.” Then, to move data from your Android phone to your iPhone, tap “Continue” and wait for Move to iOS to confirm that the transfer is complete. Then, from the App Store, download the most recent version of WhatsApp and log in with the same phone number that you used on your previous device. After that, you’ll be requested to hit “Start” to continue the process.

This procedure can be used to export your account information, profile picture, individual and group chats, chat history, media, and settings, according to WhatsApp. Your call history and display name, however, are not transferable.

According to the company, transmitted data does not migrate to cloud storage as a result of migration until an iCloud backup is created. WhatsApp also states that it cannot view the data you send and that your data will remain on your Android phone unless you delete WhatsApp or clean your phone.

Although it’s simple to transfer WhatsApp data from one iPhone to another or from one Android to another, users who want to go from Android to iPhone have had to find complicated methods. This difficulty will be solved by the new tool, which will make switching much easier.
