Ehsaas Scholarship Sania Nishtar

Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Dr Sania Nishtar has said that Ehsaas Scholarship Programme will not only help the poor and needy students to complete their education but it would also help eradicate poverty in the society.

On Wednesday, Dr Sania Nishtar said that this programme is the step towards alleviation of poverty and also it is helping poor students to complete their education. She said it while communicating via video link on the occasion of distribution of cheques among the undergraduate students of some disciplines at Khyber Medical University.

She further said that cheques worth Rs 44 mil­lion had been distributed among 341 students in­cluding 30% female and 10% tribal districts of various undergraduate programmes of the uni­versity, which was a mat­ter of pride for the gov­ernment.

Vice-Chancellor of Khyber Medical University Ziaul Haq and Health Secretary Syed Imtiaz Shah were also part of that occasion. Dr. Sania further told that youth is the real strength and future of the country and it is the responsibility of the government to help them and make them achieve their future goals.

Moreover, Sania Nishtar said, “The scholarship schemes of the previous governments were limited only to postgraduate students while the present government was awarding scholarships to millions of undergraduate students under Ehsaas programme. She said that it was an innovative step in the field of education.”

Professor Ziaul Haq also spoke and said that this project’s major purpose was to encourage students and especially motivate those students who belong from poor families and are unable to afford their university fees.

However, this scheme is helpful in reducing the burden on poor families who had to strive hard to get their children educated due to heavy expenses. In the end, the professor said that they had a lot of expectations from students and they hoped that these students will brighten the future of Pakistan.
