Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ specs & features

samsung galaxy s22 and s22 plus

Samsung’s sales goals for the Galaxy S21 series from last year were not fulfilled. The S21 and S21 Plus were surrounded by more Android rivals than ever before, making it difficult for them to distinguish out on their own. Samsung gave the base model a “cheap” first impression by employing plastic materials on the rear instead of glass, which didn’t help the situation.

However, with the new Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, Samsung is attempting to remedy some of those wrongs and re-establish these smartphones as premium, reliable, flagship-grade devices.

Unlike that smartphone, these are more similar to last year’s phones with minor design tweaks. The screens on both versions are flat, measuring 6.1 inches on the S22 and 6.6 inches on the Plus, and both have a resolution of 2340×1080.

The “contour” camera housing no longer contrasts with the phone’s overall colour, as it did with the purple S21. Samsung is also the first phone manufacturer to employ Gorilla Glass Victus Plus on the front and back of both the regular S22 and S22 Plus; there’s no more “glastic” to cheapen the feel.

S22, S22 Plus Price and Color

Both phones will be available in black, white, green, and pink gold, according to Samsung. Smartphones will be available on February 25th, meanwhile, you can preorder the phone. The Galaxy S22 costs $799.99, while the Galaxy S22 Plus costs $999.99. Both have 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. A 256GB model will be available as well, although it will have the same amount of RAM.

S22 & S22 Plus Camera

Among all of the regular spec enhancements, Samsung is emphasizing camera quality the most. The main 50-megapixel camera sports a sensor that is 23% larger than the S21’s. There are also 10MP telephoto (with 3x optical zoom) and 12MP ultra-wide cameras on both phones. Samsung claims to have made significant advances in night photography, claiming that the images will now be more comprehensive. Part of this is due to pixel binning (the primary camera still produces 12MP photos) and Samsung’s “adaptive pixel technology.”

The business also claims that it can now identify individual strands of hair in portrait images, allowing it to keep a person in focus while blurring the background more effectively.

The S22 and S22 Plus’ displays have a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, although they can be reduced to 10Hz based on the content on-screen to save battery life. Samsung claims to use a new “vision booster” algorithm to keep colour saturation and purity even in intense light. The S22 Plus has the same 1,750 nits peak brightness as the Ultra, but it can only be reached in direct sunshine. (The S22’s peak is 1,300 nits lower.)

S22 & S22 Plus Chipset

In the United States, both phones are powered by Qualcomm’s 4-nanometer Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, however in some international regions, Samsung’s own Exynos chips will be used. They’ll come pre-installed with Android 12 and Samsung’s OneUI 4.1.

S22 & S22 Plus Battery

The battery size of the S22 and the Plus differs significantly: the S22 has a 3,700mAh battery, while the Plus has a 4,500mAh battery. Charging speed is likewise slower on the smaller S22, which is limited to 25-watt wired charging against 45-watt wired charging on the Plus; both top out at 15-watt wireless charging.
