Remdesivir

Pakistan has announced to export Remdesivir drug to treat coronavirus.

The country is going through a tough condition where no vaccine has discovered so far and treating people has become even more important than anything else. This is why Pakistan has announced on Friday about its plans to begin the production “within weeks” and then export the antiviral drug Remdesivir for treating COVID-19. It would be highly beneficial in treating respiratory diseases caused by a coronavirus.

The local pharmaceutical company, Ferozons Laboratories Ltd. would make the medicine in partnership with America’s Gilead. Pakistan health minister Zafar Mirza told reporters in Islamabad.

Pakistan is one of the three countries for exporting the coronavirus drug. Zafar Mirza further said that this medicine would be available within 6 to 8 weeks and only coronavirus patients would be permitted to use it in Pakistan and it will then be exported to 127 countries further.

The drug made news when Drug Regulators in America allowed emergency use of Remdesivir when it was concluded from clinical trials that the drug may help some coronavirus patients to recover faster.

As Imran Khan the PM of country eased the lockdown in view of the starvation condition of daily wages workers and low GDP growth, the cases of coronavirus have started increasing rapidly. This is why Mr. Prime Minister said, “Until a vaccine is available, the coronavirus will persist irrespective of a lockdown. Hence, we will have to learn to live with it until then”.
