Over 8.2 million overseas Pakistanis registered with Nadra

Over 8.2 million overseas Pakistanis having National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (Nicop) had been registered with National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), chairman NADRA Tariq Malik informed while assuring the provision of digital solution to the majority of the problems faced by them.

“Nadra is a learning organization and I do not want to miss any opportunity to interact with the overseas Pakistanis to learn from them to improve the system and address the common issues facing them,” Malik said during the Overseas Pakistanis International Conference (OPIC).

Mr. Malik stated that there are over six million foreign Pakistanis who hold both Nicop and machine-readable passports, continuing that almost a 0.465 million of them had opened Roshan digital accounts powered by Nadra, making profits to the tune of $3.6 billion.

With regard to the new initiatives taken by Nadra and their success, he informed that the Pak-ID app having the capability of biometric face and fingerprint capture along with document scanning has been implemented by more than a 0.137 million people for contactless biometric verification from the comfort of their homes in a few months. He stated that the innovative application has helped people to use their smartphones for biometric verification.

Meanwhile, chairman NADRA also talked about the Nadra Centralised Complaint Management System (NCCMS) that delivers a unified view of complaints regarding all Nadra services, products, and projects.

“With an effective monitoring mechanism, the NCCMS has the feature to escalate the complaint if it is not resolved in a given resolution timeframe. When a complaint is not resolved in due time, there is also a super escalation feature that brings up the complaint directly to the Nadra chairman,” he described.

Moreover, Dr. Abdullah Riar, Secretary Office of International Chapters of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf lauded the government’s efforts intended to facilitate foreign Pakistanis and stated that from the Roshan digital account millions of rupees can be earned in remittances on a daily basis.

He added that the PTI government had taken outstanding measures for the well-being and development of expatriates in the history of the country.
