New Gwadar Airport to have advanced communication system of China’s Hytera

Gwadar Airport

The New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) will be equipped with an up-to-the-minute communications system from Chinese Company Hytera, a top global provider of professional communications technologies and solutions.

Constructed across an area of 4,300 acres, the NGIA is likely to become the biggest airport in Pakistan after its completion on 2023 and is one of the key projects under the umbrella of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to the sources, the Hytera airport communications solution was chosen for the assurance of the safety of passengers and employees both on the ground and in the air besides providing reliable and robust communication for the NGIA.

As per the contract, Hytera will use top-of-the-line equipment and communication system for the new Gwadar International Airport, comprising Smart One Dispatch System, 1 DIB-R5 Compact Tetra Base Station, and several portable radios, mobile radios as well as repeaters.

Its roster of clients in the airport industry comprises PMIA Airport, Hong Kong Airport, Qatar Airways, Charles de Gaulle Airport, Vienna Airport, and Helsinki Airport.

Under the master plan, the airport will have a 3,658 meters long runway of 75 meters in width, sufficient to accommodate and handle the flight operations of large aircraft. Both the design and construction contract of the airport has been given to the China Communications Construction Company by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Ahsan Iqbal, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives said that the development work on Gwadar airport is progressing at a satisfactory pace. The facility will be finalized and made operational on the recently announced deadline, i.e. March 23, 2023. “It will be a gift for the people of Balochistan on Pakistan Day,” Ahsan Iqbal added.

Consequently, the project will also bring numerous new employment opportunities for the people.
