Javed Afridi teases the launch of MG 6 Pro in Pakistan

MG 6 Pro

The all-new MG 6 Pro could be on its way to Pakistan shortly, according to a recent social media post by the Pakistani entrepreneur Javed Afridi.

The MG 6 is a compact family sedan in the C-Segment that competes with the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Hyundai Elantra. The Chinese market has just seen the arrival of a completely revamped 3rd generation MG 6, with the Pro trim-level being a step up from the regular trim-level due to its slightly more aggressive styling and sportier interior design.

In terms of the car’s characteristics and powertrain, the vehicle has only recently been unveiled in the Chinese market, and the company is waiting for the official introduction to release all of the vehicle’s details.

However, the company has told the Chinese media that the car will come with a 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 180 horsepower and a strong 280 newton-meters of torque in the Pro trim level.

Inside, the MG 6 Pro features a new entirely digital instrument panel, a beautiful three-spoke steering wheel with smart controls, paddle shifters, a big 10.1-inch infotainment screen, and some simple, yet modern-looking physical buttons.

Although the arrival of a modern and rather exciting new vehicle in the market appears to be an exciting prospect, but let us not hold our breaths just yet, because, based on Afridi’s teasers, there are a number of vehicles that should have been launched in Pakistan by now, including the RX8 SUV, Gloster SUV, Extender pickup truck, MG 5 sedan, and MG 3 hatchback.

Furthermore, given the new policy’s emphasis on smaller vehicles, launching a larger, more lavish vehicle appears to be a counter-intuitive business decision. With that in mind, it will be interesting to observe whatever market niche Javed Afridi targets in the future.
