Eid holidays from 22 May to 27 May; Eidul Fitr to be marked on Sunday

The Shawwal moon could not be sighted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai announced.

Mufti Popalzai made the announcement after a meeting of the unofficial moon sighting committee at Masjid Qasim Ali Khan in Peshawar.

In other provinces, the government of Punjab has announced 6 holidays for Eidul Fitr. In a notification, issued by Section Officer(Welfare 1), services, and general administration department, there would be Eid Holidays w.e.f. 22 May to 27 May (22 May being Jumatuwida).

Chief Secretary has also issued a notification, announcing the Eid holidays W.e.f. 22 May to 27 May. According to the notification, there would be the holidays in all provincial departments and autonomous bodies.

Local government institutions would also enjoy the holidays. Emergency services and staff deputed on coronavirus emergency duty will not be entitled to these holidays.

According to APP, there would be 6 Eidul Fitr holidays in Supreme Court and in all the five regional benches. Due to unavailability of the public transport, people are facing a problem traveling to their home towns.

Although 30 trains are on the track to move yet, this facility of transportation is too less as the number of passengers is too high as compared to the available rail transport. There are big crowds of the passenger, searching for the transport on bus stops and roadsides at every city.
