Cement sales declined by 9.07 percent in October

Despite the fact, the present government has given big incentives to the construction industry, cement sales came down by 6.68 percent during the first quarter of the current fiscal year as compared to the same period last year. From July 2020 to October 2020, the total cement dispatches stood at 19.331 million tons which reduced to 18.039 million tons during the same quarter this year.  

All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has released the data, according to which, domestic sale of cement during the month of October was 4.603 million as compared to 4.859 million tons in the same month, last year, indicating the fall of 5.29 percent.

In October 2020, the export of cement was 875,266 tons which came down massively to 611,884 tons in the same month, this year. As far as region-wise analysis is concerned, the North-based factories sold 3.831 million tons of cement during October 2021 in the local market, which was 4.164 million tons during the same month, last year, showing a reduction of 8.01 percent. 

The South-based cement manufacturing units dispatched 771,755 tons in the local market in the month of October, this year which was 695,221 tons during this month, last year, showing the rise of 11.01 percent. The mills of the North region exported 73,608 tons of cement in October 2021 which was 283,389 tons during this month, last year, indicating the massive fall of 74.03 percent.  

The mills of the South region exported 537,276 tons of cement in October 2021 which was 591,877 tons during the same month, last year, showing a decline of 9.06 percent. The manufacturing units of the North region sold 13.314 million tons in the local market during the first quarter of the current fiscal year which was 13.627 million tons during this period, last year, showing a reduction of 2.3 percent.  

North-based cement factories exported 461,275 tons from July 2021 to October 2021, which was 905,575 tons during the same period, last year, showing a decline of 49.06 percent. During the first quarter of the current year, the domestic dispatches of the South zone have been 2.56 million tons against 2.08 million tons during this period, last year, showing the rise of 23 percent. 

During the first four months of this financial year, the export of cement, according to APCMA, from the South region was 1.696 million tons as compared to 2.712 million during the same period, last, showing the decline by 37.45 percent.
