CDWP Approves Six Development Projects Worth Rs 37 Billion

Four projects worth Rs 3.69 billion have been approved, along with another two projects of Rs 33.49 billion were agreed by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP).

On Wednesday, Central Development Working Party (CDWP) gave go-ahead to 6 new projects worth Rs 37 billion in the meeting supervised by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan. He approved projects relating to health, physical planning and housing, education and mass media.

The meeting approved the second revision of ‘Sehat Sahulat Programme’ at a cost of Rs 31.9 billion and a Covid-19 response project to be carried out with Japanese assistance worth Rs 1,562.40 million. The programme is under implementation all over the country, including districts of Balochistan, Punjab, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad Capital Territory.

Furthermore, a project worth Rs 508.20 million for the construction of a 50-bed hospital with hostels, residential accommodation, medical equipment, ambulances and other vehicles, at Pasni was approved by CDWP. This project includes residential accommodation for doctors and paramedical staff, and medical facilities for the common man.

At a cost of Rs 661.76 million, social safeguard and design studies to prepare sub-project of SOP-II of Karachi Water & Sewerage Services Improvement project was approved in the meeting.

The approval of the construction of small storage dams in Khuzdar district worth Rs 3056.07 million and the 26MW Shagharthang hydropower project worth Rs 8616.01 million in Skardu district, after a lapse of more than 11 years, was also given in the meeting.

The CDWP approved a project related to the second revision of development communications in the mass media worth Rs 616.401 million. The project is for the promotion and projection of development projects, policies and programmes of the federal government.

Moreover, the ‘PTV Terrestrial Digitalization DTMB Demonstration’ project of the Planning Commission worth Rs 3756.918 million was also approved in the meeting. The CDWP approved a revised project of the Balochistan government for the establishment of a cadet college in Kharan worth Rs 1,908 million.
