Difference Between Regular & Diet Soda

Manufacturers of soda often claim that diet sodas are healthier than regular sodas and are an ideal choice for people trying to lose weight considers diet soda a better choice.

Usually doctors and practitioners would not recommend drinking diet sodas, however, if someone consumes a lot of regular soda on a daily basis and do not ready to quit altogether, these people can reduce the effects of a regular soda by consuming diet soda.

Reduced sugar intake: a simple can of regular soda contains 10 to 11 teaspoons of sugar. And healthcare practitioners do not recommend more than 6 1/2 teaspoons for women and approximately 10 teaspoons for men per day.

a regular can of regular soda, typically contains 40 to 50 g of carbohydrates, which is within the recommended range of carbohydrate intake. 

Some Risks Associated With Drinking Diet Soda   

There are many supposed health risks connected with sugar substitutes, most of which stem from rumors and internet fears. For example, one of the most common sugar substitutes, aspartame, has been extensively studied for its alleged involvement in health problems ranging from migraines to cancer. 

While the debate over the safety of aspartame is likely to continue, what we know about this particular sugar substitute has come from extensive research since it was approved by the FDA for use in soft drinks. There is no conclusive evidence of a health risk unless you have a metabolic disorder that prevents you from properly metabolizing the amino acid phenylalanine. Although evidence supports the safety of sugar substitutes used in diet sodas, there are some considerations to keep in mind when consuming diet sodas consistently.

No Nutritional Benefits 

Diet soda has little to almost no calories and offer basically no nutritional benefits. It finishes the chance to consume other beneficial calories like low-fat milk (source of calcium) or unsweetened green tea (source of micronutrients that may have anti-inflammatory benefits).

There is a perception that drinking diet sodas make for a more enjoyable choice. It seems that some people feel that there is this can stop weight loss process and lead to weight gain.

The zero-calorie aspect may sound exciting, but don’t be fooled by false advertising of diet soda. Studies show that diet sodas often actually lead to weight gain, not weight loss. Artificial sweeteners leave people with unsatisfied sugar cravings and lead to overeating later. Diet sodas are unhealthy and cause damage to the human body as defined by health experts. Weight gain aside, people drinking diet soda are more likely to fall prey to heart disease. Drinking just one diet soda a day increases the risk of high blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol by 36%. 

Lethal For Children Under Developmental Age 

Children’s Weight and Nutritional Issues – Children who drink diet soda are at risk of losing weight and missing out on nutrients important for growth and development required by their body during their childhood.

Certain Diseases 

  • It can cause certain diseases related to heart such as heart attack and high blood pressure. 
  • It can also lead to metabolic issues such as diabetes and obesity  
  • Cause certain brain conditions, such as dementia and stroke 
  • Liver problems are also prevalent among those who consume diet soda, which include nonalcoholic fatty liver disease 

So, it cannot be decided definitively which one is better as each has its pros and cons. However, whichever you choose, be aware that none are good for your health. Soda itself is not good for the heart, so it’s better to avoid it as much as possible or drink it occasionally. They must be replaced with other beneficial drinks such as fresh juices or plain water.
