PMDC Announces MDCAT 2023 Exam Date, Maintains Last Year’s Syllabus

MDCAT

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially set the date for the 2023 National Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). In its second meeting helmed by President Dr. Rizwan Taj, the council agreed to conduct the examination on August 27, 2023, with no changes to the syllabus from the previous year.

In an effort to safeguard students’ interests, the council issued directives to all provincial secretaries to kickstart the preparations for MDCAT. The council expressed its commitment to uphold the confidentiality and integrity of the examination by involving all relevant stakeholders in the run-up to the test.

The MDCAT witnessed a turnout of approximately 204,259 students in the previous year, while the projection for this year’s participation is estimated to hover around 210,000. The council underscored the necessity to maintain a balanced level of difficulty for the MDCAT paper, to ensure that it doesn’t compromise the merit-based system while catering to the students’ convenience.

Furthermore, the PMDC has entrusted the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) with overseeing admissions to all medical and dental institutes under the purview of the armed forces. The entrance test administered by NUMS will be recognized as equivalent to the national MDCAT.
