The number of Pakistan’s positive coronavirus tally has surged to 251,625 while the nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 5,266.

According to the official Covid-19 data, a significant reduction in the number of positive cases has emerged and the recovery cases are on the rise as the country crossed the 100-day mark last week in its fight against the contagious respiratory disease which has claimed more than 5,000 lives.

This trend if continues the country may reach the peak of coronavirus soon and the strategies to flatten the Covid-19 curve by imposing smart lockdowns in hotspot areas may have yielded the desired results.

But, according to many doctors and rough estimates, cases are not decreasing as they seem as people have just stopped getting tested and the government has slowed down the testing capacity.

The official fatality number in the country now is 5266 and it is also understood that the real death count may be much higher as all the deaths in rural and far-flung remote areas are not registered as Covid-19 deaths.

Pakistan’s coronavirus official record

So far as per official record provided by NCOC, 2,769 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours and 69 more people have died in the last 24 hours.

Sindh has become the worst-hit Pakistan’s province by the pandemic in terms of cases as it has become the first province to hit 1 lac coronavirus tally, followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad.

Till now 105,533 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 87,043 in Punjab, 30,486 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,185 in Balochistan, 14,108 in Islamabad, 1,671 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,599 in Azad Kashmir.

Furthermore, 2,013 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 1,795 in Sindh, 1,099 in KP, 126 in Balochistan, 153 in Islamabad, 36 in GB and 44 in Azad Kashmir.

According to the report, the death ratio in confirmed cases is so far 1.7 percent and recoveries are 20.4 percent which is a huge sigh of relief for the country.
