Pakistan earns $315 million from export of travel services in seven months

Pakistan has earned $315.030 million by giving various travel services in different countries in the first seven months of the current financial year 2021-22.

Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported that data shows a growth of 13.67 percent when compared to the $277.146 million for the same services given during the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal year 2020-21.

Throughout the month under consideration, personal travel services surged by 13.71 percent, from $276.006 million last year to $313.840 million from July-January 2021-22.

Amid these personal services, the exports of health-related expenses increased by 72.73 percent while the education-related expenditure rose by 0.15 percent. Additionally, the other personal services observed growth of 13.83 percent.

In the meantime, the exports of business services also showed an increase of 4.39 percent, from $1.140 million to $1.190 million, according to the data revealed by PBS.

Moreover, the exports of services from the country observed growth of 18.82 percent in the first seven months of the current financial year (2021-22) against the corresponding period of last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) noted.

During July- January (2021-22), the exports of services were noted at $3,944.91 million as compared to the exports of $3,320.17 million in July-January (2020-21), revealing growth of 18.82 percent. The imports also increased by 39.49 percent rising from $4,426.30 million last year to $6,174.42 million during the time period under review.

In January this year, PBS reported that Pakistan had earned $182.991 million by the provision of travel services in various countries within the first four months of the current financial year 2021-22.

Consequently, a growth of 49.86 percent was seen when compared to the $122.110 million during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year 2020-21.

Furthermore, the personal travel services had jumped by 50.16 percent, from $121.410 million the previous years to $182.311 million by July-October 2021.

On contrary, the exports of business services observed a drop of 2.86 percent, from $0.700 million to $0.680 million, as per PBS data.
