The first Pakistani lawmaker of the Tehreek-e-Insaf party and a former provincial governor died of coronavirus on Wednesday.

Member of present ruling party Shaheen Raza has died of COVID-19, making her the first Pakistani lawmaker to die of coronavirus. She was a 60 years old lady who was admitted to the Mayo hospital in Lahore after tested positive of coronavirus.

The former governor of Baluchistan, Syed Fazal Agha, who had tested positive for the coronavirus and was admitted to a hospital in Karachi, has also died on Wednesday.

Sohail Ashraf, the Gujranwala Deputy Commission said that she got admitted a few days ago in the hospital when her health deteriorated over the weekend. She was put on a ventilator. She succumbed to the contagious disease in the hospital where she was admitted on Wednesday.

She was already diseased with high blood pressure and diabetes, as old people and people with comorbidity are highly vulnerable to this virus.

Shaheen Raza had been inspecting many quarantine centers. She was the only PTI member elected in 2018 who belonged from Gujranwala in Punjab Assembly. The whole political fraternity, especially the President and the PM of the country expressed their grief towards her death.

She is the first politician who has died of coronavirus while the rest of other politicians recovered like Asad Qaisar, Imran Ismail, Saeed Ghani.
