Exports up by 32.49% to Rs 494.7 billion in July

The country’s exports in terms of rupee recorded an increase of 32.49% during July when compared to the similar month of last year, as per the recent data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). 

The exports in the month of July 2022 were recorded at Rs 494,720 million as compared to the exports of Rs 373,412 million in July 2021, depicting an increase of 32.49 percent, as per the details fetched by provisional data released by PBS. 

However, on a month-on-month basis, the exports from the country showed a decline of 17.05 percent as compared to the exports of Rs 596,433 million in June 2022. 

The main commodities which were exported during July 2022 included knitwear at Rs 95,439 million, readymade garments at Rs 66,835 at million, bed wear at Rs 55,735 million, cotton cloth at Rs 39,934 million, rice others at Rs 20,414 million, towels at Rs 16,450 million, cotton yarn at Rs 15,660 million, made-up articles except for towels & Bedwear at Rs 12,008 million, rice Basmati at Rs 9,996 million and vegetables at Rs 9,661 million.

In contrast, the imports into the country during July 2022 made up to Rs.1, 095,730 million as compared to Rs 1,610,327 million in June 2022 and Rs 889,782 million during July 2021, which shows a decrease of 31.96 percent over June 2021 while an increase of 23.15 percent over July 2021. 

Meanwhile, the main commodities which were imported during July 2022 were petroleum products at a cost of Rs.159,768 million, petroleum crude costing Rs 94,600 million, palm oil at Rs 65,691 million, electrical machinery and apparatus amounting to Rs 53,306 million, plastic materials at Rs 53,061 million, Natural Gas Liquified at Rs 50,585 million, iron & steel at a cost of Rs 43,198 million, wheat unmilled amounted Rs 23,511 million, raw cotton at Rs 23,339 million and iron & steel scrap imported at Rs 22,636 million. 

PBS further reported that Pakistan exported textile products worth $19.33 billion during the financial year 2021/2022 with an increase of 25.53 percent against $15.4 billion in the last fiscal year.
