Deserving households will get Rs 2,100 monthly assistance under Insaf Food Card

The provincial cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has given a nod for the launching of the Insaf Food Card in the province aiming to provide Rs 2,100 monthly to every deserving household. 

Special Assistant to CM on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif announced the decision to the media persons while informing the future plans of the cabinet during its 71st meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. 

He stated that a huge amount of Rs 25.92 billion will be spent under this scheme, which will benefit almost five million people in the province. The selection of needy persons for the Insaf Food Card will be done using the already available genuine records of the Ehsaas Programme. A contract will be signed with the Bank of Khyber to issue Insaf Food Card on the pattern of ATM Card, which will be operational from the next financial year, he mentioned.

Mr. Saif further said that the cabinet also approved increasing the quantity of wheat procurement from 1.2 million metric tonnes to 1.4 million metric tonnes to make sure the smooth supply of wheat to the flour mills. He claimed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is open to utilizing all options for wheat procurement i.e. Punjab, PASSCO, and Trade Corporation of Pakistan to make sure the availability of wheat flour to the consumers, adding that KP has adequate resources to cater to the necessity of flour. 

Meanwhile, the cabinet also approved the allocation of the Auqaf Department’s owned land measuring 268 Kanal and 10 marlas at Abbottabad to the sports department for establishing a sports complex on a lease basis. He further stated that the cabinet gave approval to the solarisation of 7,000 mosques in the province which comprised 5,000 mosques in the settled districts and 2,000 in the merged districts. 

The KP Regularization of Services of Employees of Settlement Operations and Revenue Academy Bill 2022 has also been approved by the cabinet, Saif added.
