Pakistan Slips In ICC T20I Rankings After Annual Update

India continues to dominate the ICC Men’s T20I Rankings, as they have extended their lead to 267 points in the annual rankings update. The Men in Blue have put more distance between themselves and the second-placed team, England, who are eight points behind with 259 points.

Despite an underwhelming T20 World Cup in 2021, India bounced back with a semi-final appearance in 2022. They have been outstanding in T20Is since May 2020, winning 13 out of 14 bilateral series, with only a single loss to Sri Lanka in 2021, while one series ended in a draw against South Africa in 2022.

The latest rankings reflect all T20I series completed since May 2020, with those completed before May 2022 weighted at 50 per cent and every subsequent series weighted at 100 per cent.

New Zealand (256 points) made a significant jump in the rankings, climbing two spots from No. 5 to No. 3. The Kiwis are now breathing down England’s necks, with just three points separating the two sides.

Pakistan and South Africa complete the top 5 teams in the rankings, with Pakistan ranked fourth with 254 points and South Africa in fifth place with 253 points.

The ICC Men’s T20I Rankings update comes ahead of an action-packed summer of T20I cricket, which includes the ICC T20 World Cup later this year. It will be interesting to see if India can maintain their dominant position and secure their second T20 World Cup title.
