The main campus of the university of Poonch Rawalakot is located in the heart of district poonch, Rawalakot, AJK. The valley of Rawalakot exhibits the fabulous beauty of scenes in the foot hills of lower Himalayans. The university was established as an institute in 1980, to expand the agricultural technology and to give productive incentives for agriculture development in the area. It was upgraded to university in FEB, 2012 In achieving the benchmark of the fully university, it has encountered many barriers and now it comprises of 7 faculties.
The university is to build foundation for the educational opportunities under conducive environment to take the best advantages for the identification of self- reliance, wisdom, values, human potentials for the identification for the advancement of knowledge , development of skills and intellectuals to contribute and support the society for the betterment of humanity.

ADMISSION:
The university criteria for admission is:
- The candidates have to take admission in b.sc having the degree of intermediate or A-Levels or equivalent from the recognized university with at least 50% marks or 2nd division.
- For M.SC the candidate having B.SC with 56% marks and GAT with minimum 50% marks.
- M.phil admission are on the basis of 4 years of BS Or master degree with at least 3.00 CGPA or 60% marks in annual system.
- MS/PHD are on the basis of NTS/ GAT test score.
