The Indus Valley Institution of Art and Architecture (IVS) was founded in 1990 by a group of seasoned architects, designers, and artists who regarded Karachi as in critical need of a high-quality art, design, and architecture school.
The School is a non-profit, non-commercial organisation governed by an Executive Committee and administered by the Executive Director’s office. The Executive Committee and the Executive Director collaborate with an independent Board of Governors made up of prominent educators, artists, architects, industrialists, financiers, and journalists.
Sindh’s government also nominates candidates.
The School is officially patronised by three members of the Board and the Governor of Sindh. In June 1994, the Government of Sindh awarded IVS an independent charter, allowing it to offer its own degrees. It was Pakistan’s fourth private higher education institution to receive that designation.

LIBRARAY:-
The Mariam Abdulla Library (MAL) was founded in 1989, the same year as the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. MAL has approximately 13,152 resources, including 1590 dissertations based on research done by IVS students each year, CDs/DVDs, and School Archives.
The library also has one impact factor journal and 37 subscription publications. The library has core i7 computers with Internet Wi-Fi access and an OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) where users can search the library’s database.
ADMISSION:-
The School admits students only on the basis of merit, as assessed by an aptitude test, an interview procedure, and a weighting formula.
