Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Captain (Retd) Muhammad Usman announced that a Punjab-style food authority would be made in Islamabad in the next few months.

During an informal meeting with journalists in Islamabad on Wednesday, the CDA chairman stated that it was surprising not to have the authority in Islamabad.

He added the Islamabad Food Authority bill had been approved. “We will spend all our energy to establish it as soon as possible,” he remarked.

“There will be an obstacle in the matter of purchasing vehicles, but in the next few months, the Food Authority of Islamabad will start its work,” the CDA chief said.

Talking to the media, Usman informed that a special task has been given to Director Finance Captain Ali Sher and Director Admin Quratulain Malik to complete legal work in 15 days and initiate appointments.

The procedure of formation of the Food Authority Board, budget preparation, and appointments of the human resource should be started, he directed, adding that food is the basic necessity of every human being and hygienic food protects us from many diseases.

“The food authority plays a vital role to run the food industry on a scientific basis and being a former director general of the Punjab Food Authority I know the importance and functions of the authority,” CDA Chief said, adding that it would be his top priority to provide clean and quality food to the people of Islamabad.

Meanwhile, responding to the question of parking issues in the capital, he stated “We are working according to the already existing traffic study for the parking problems in Islamabad.”

Usman added that indiscriminate actions would be made against encroachments to bring Islamabad back to its original shape and to make it a more beautiful city.

In this regard, the authority would prepare a comprehensive plan to establish a dumping site in the city, he said, assuring that all current development projects would be completed in time.
